Take a walk in the museum's lush farmer's garden, where dahlias, dahlias, root vegetables and cabbage are grown - just as they have been on Amager for centuries. Also say hello to the museum's pigs and goats, who are ready to be petted throughout the summer.

The museum's garden

The Amager Museum has a lovely vegetable garden where the museum's volunteer group grows some of the vegetables that the Dutch farmers sold at the market in Copenhagen. In July, children can help harvest. It's a great experience to get your hands on soil and see where the food comes from!

There are also flower beds with historical varieties. In late summer, the dahlias bloom. There are many different varieties that have been bred on Amager over time.

The raw materials in the herb garden are used in traditional regional products that are sold in the museum shop, such as jams, pickles and home-made mustard.
