On the lawn there are props for old games and six wooden horses have been moved in and invite you to a stationary ride.

There are special activities throughout the year that focus on educating children.

And remember, children are free!

The story of Dutch Town – told where it began

The Amager Museum is a cozy time capsule, where idyll, tranquility and history are at the forefront. Explore the old farms and enter the world of the Amager farmers. Here you can experience Amager's past and present in the museum's beautiful surroundings.

The museum is located in St. Magleby, also known as the "Dutch Town". In the 16th century, Dutch farmers immigrated to Amager and were given special privileges by the king. It is precisely the history, cultural heritage and local identity of the Dutch farmers that you can experience at the museum.

The Dutch farms have a lovely vegetable garden where the museum's volunteer group grows some of the vegetables that the Dutch farmers sold at the market in Copenhagen. In July, children can help harvest. It's a great experience to get your hands on soil and see where the food comes from!

In August and September, the beautiful dahlias bloom in all sorts of beautiful colors and shapes. Several of them were bred on Amager.
Say hello to the pigs and goats

Say hello to the pigs and goats

Say hello to the museum's pigs and goats, who are ready to be petted all summer long. The pigs graze in the large paddock, where they love to bathe in the mud and mostly have their bellies brushed and scratched.

The goats are in the paddock closest to the old museum farm. Did you know that in the old days, goats were called poor man's shoes because they were cheap to run and gave milk? The goats have kids every other year.

Both pigs and goats have areas in their enclosure that are human-free, where they can take a break.

In the chicken coop, the chickens cluck in the hope of making themselves available to Alfred the rooster.
